When I asked the two friends sat in my vicinity how many newspapers they thought were sold in the UK every day, I was presented with guesses of 500,000 and 2,000,000. These were a way out. The particular figure, in accordance with ABC, is 12,681,472. It’s an impressive total, and one that goes to exhibit the printed press isn’t, as much believe, anything of the past.

So what makes them so continually popular? The present affairs? Showbiz gossip? Sport? Or the actual fact they’re simply something to pass enough time on the train to work? It’s all horses for courses, but one undeniable the fact is that each and every and every day we’re reading tomorrow’s history. pool result  Now which could sound rather melodramatic, but contemplate it – whether it’s the news from last week, this past year, last decade or last century, we remain interested by the big stories and events of yesteryear. That’s history. And 150 years from now, who’s to say people won’t be buying today’s newspapers to gain a window into life in early 21st century?

So for those people interested ever sold today, newspapers provide a fascinating insight to the past. Presumably that’s why newspaper gifts are in such high demand. For anybody who enjoys reading historical accounts, as an example, you truly can’t go wrong with original newspaper gifts. They’re more widely available than you may think, and allow you to select a specific day from a certain year, going entirely back to 1900. Even 19th-century newspapers are available. And although any edition dating back to between 1830 and 1899 only lets you specify the entire year, the nice affordable means you’d do well to quibble. Plus, it’s a little original history all to yourself, so what’s not to like? Even better, if, as is so often the case, you’re eyeing up an original newspaper as a present, why not add a personal touch with a customised wine or a spirit? The bottle comes with a label that can be fully personalised with a name and message, before it’s packed with the initial newspaper right into a satin-lined box. Swish.

The real history buffs in our midst would also love a newspaper book. In fact, as personalised newspaper gifts go, these take some beating. Basically, you can find two types available. The very first is called a Special Date book which has three options to select from. Option number one could be the Year Edition book which contains reprinted reports and features from just one, specific date chosen by you. Option two could be the Anniversary Edition that lets you select three different dates. Whilst the name suggests, these are typically a marriage date and two birthdays, but there’s nothing to say you couldn’t simply choose any three dates you like. And finally, option three could be the This Is Your Life edition which has scope for up to ten dates of your choice. Most of the books feature a selection of covers and the chance to personalise it with a name and message.

Are you aware that second pair of newspaper books, these have pre-selected dates that cover a number of historic periods. You’ll find editions based around both World Wars, Michael Jackson, Prince William, Princess Diana and The Beatles. You’ve also got a Centenary edition which includes the most truly effective 100 stories from the 20th century. Long story short, newspaper gifts certainly are a history nerd’s dream come true.
